Girl Plus Environment Announces Eriqah Vincent as New Board Chair

[Atlanta, GA] – [January 28, 2025] – Girl Plus Environment (GPE), a national nonprofit committed to empowering young Black and Brown women+ in the climate and environmental movements, is thrilled to announce the election of Eriqah Vincent as its new Board Chair.

Eriqah Vincent brings a wealth of expertise and leadership to this role, combining over fifteen years of experience in environmental advocacy, organizational development, and community engagement. As an accomplished strategist, educator, and environmental justice advocate, Vincent’s work has consistently centered on uplifting marginalized communities and advancing equity in the climate and environmental sectors.

Her impressive background includes serving in leadership roles across notable organizations such as the National Wildlife Federation and the Southeast Climate and Energy Network. In addition to her professional achievements, Vincent is widely recognized for her ability to build meaningful partnerships and catalyze transformative change at the intersections of environmental justice, community development, and leadership.

As the new Board Chair, Vincent will lead efforts to strengthen Girl Plus Environment’s mission of shifting the narrative and increasing the representation of women+ of color in key decision-making spaces. Her leadership will be instrumental as the organization expands its programming, including the GPE Job and Resource Hub, mentorship initiatives, and community engagement efforts.

We are thrilled to welcome Eriqah Vincent as our new Board Chair,” said Diamond Spratling, Founder and Executive Director of Girl Plus Environment. “Her vision, passion, and commitment to environmental justice align perfectly with GPE’s mission, and we are confident she will help lead the organization into a powerful new chapter of impact.”

“I was very excited to join the GPE Board last year and I'm immensely honored that Diamond and my fellow board members are now trusting me with this role as we lead this very important organization into its next stage of growth. It is now more important than ever that Black Women led organizations have the authentic and unwavering support they need, both internally and externally, as we navigate the troubling road ahead for climate and environmental justice and all progressive movements.”

Under Vincent’s leadership, Girl Plus Environment will continue to amplify the voices of Black and Brown women and nonbinary individuals, ensuring they are at the forefront of driving climate solutions and environmental justice efforts across the U.S.
